MHA....An Association of Montana Health Care Providers represents skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) across the state of Montana. These facilities (also called nursing homes), whether hospital-based or freestanding, offer the most intensive level of care on the resident care continuum. Our members offer both post-acute and long-term care to residents who need skilled nursing or rehabilitation to manage, observe, and evaluate their care. This care may be medically complex, and is delivered to disabled or elderly residents who cannot completely care for themselves. In Montana, SNFs are considered health care facilities, and are licensed and surveyed by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS). Because the SNFs are Medicare/Medicaid-certified, DPHHS surveyors regularly assess facilities' compliance with a multitude of federal and state regulations.
