Community Services
Report
2001 - Spring 2002
Welcome to the MHA Community Services Report
Health care is big business in Montana. And, as such,
hospitals, nursing homes and other health organizations are often
viewed as large, impersonal institutions reluctant to contribute
to the greater good of the community in which they operate.
Nothing could be farther from the truth. Montana’s acute
care hospitals and nearly all MHA-member extended care providers
are not-for-profit organizations with a mandate to address the
health care needs of their communities.
To fulfill this mission, MHA-member facilities operate
a wide variety of community services and programs. MHA’s Community Services
Report describes many activities from MHA-member hospitals, nursing
homes and other health care organizations. To help share their “stories” facilities,
through letters, newsletters, newspaper articles and photos demonstrate
what they give back to their communities.
While this is by no means a complete picture of
the community service programs and activities provided by MHA-member
facilities, it does
provide a glimpse of their breadth and scale.

to chronicle the many contributions made by health care facilities
to the betterment
of their communities.
MHA, formerly the Montana Hospital Association,
is an association that represents Montana’s hospitals, nursing homes, home
health agencies, hospices and other health care providers.
MHA helps to develop consensus among members on
public policy issues, represents the interests of these facilities
with state and federal
governmental agencies and provides educational and other services
to members.
